About the Trip
Our ride from Chicago, IL to Fort Collins, CO, then on to San Francisco from Sacramento, a total of 1,250 miles (2,011 kilometers.) We covered this distance in about 71 riding hours. Our departure date was the beginning of the summer of 2011 - hence Trike Trek '11.
Our velomobiles carried essential items such as tents, sleeping bags, food, water, repair tools, spare tubes, first aid kit, etc. They also sported solar panels which were used to charge any electrical items we brought along. Do not be mistaken - the solar panels did NOT charge or run any type of motor - our velomobiles were entirely human-powered. Although we have nothing against solar power! ;)
