The Trike Trek Team
Chase, 18
Founder of Trike Trek '11
This is myself. I am an 18 year old high school student in Illinois. I have always been obsessed with anything pedal powered from the moment I rode a big-wheel. The feeling of freedom and speed have always kept me in love with the hobby and lifestyle.
I first stumbled upon velomobiles a couple years ago and I was fascinated with them since then. I have wanted one since i discovered them but i could never afford one, so I decided I would build one myself. I planned on building a couple with my friends and then taking a big trip with them to Colorado.
But then my stepfather suggested if I were to do the trip, I should do it for a cause. I had not thought of this but I 100% agreed with him and I immediately began working out the route of the trip, the materials I would need, my budget, possible sponsors, etc.
I rode a home-built creation that consisted of a recumbent tadpole-style trike of my own design that has features from commercially produced trikes, racing velomobiles, and touring trikes. This trike was housed in a corrugated plastic fairing of my own design.

Hello, I'm Adam. I'm French, and I discovered Chase's project via his Youtube videos, while I was building a velomobile too. Since that moment, I was in contact with Chase and I followed the Trike Trek '11
project developments.
I also wanted to make a big biking trip since the 350km I made in 2009 summer. But this time I wanted to ride a recumbent or velomobile, and my trike is too heavy, too big, and too power hungry to have his part in the trek.
So I built a faired recumbent trike of my own design. I follow a partnership learning curse in mechanical engineering : I'm an employee of the company THALES, and I spend 50% of my working time at High school in Brest. This situation earns me money and experience, and I'll graduate as an engineer.
Trike Trek '11 is a big challenge, that I was glad to take part in!
